Who does Georgia Amoore believe is the best player on the floor? 'Me.'

Georgia Amoore wasn’t always the confident and assertive player that we know her to be today at Kentucky.

Just like every college kid, she was once a freshman — a freshman that was still figuring out who they were on the hardwood. It wasn’t like she was uber-talented coming into college either. Her only visit was to Portland. Or, that was until Kenny Brooks took a chance on her and took her under his wing in Blacksburg.

As Amoore and Brooks got to working together, she slowly started improving. Her sophomore season, she averaged 11.2 points and 4.4 assists per game, knocking down 40% of her three-point shots too. Brooks would periodically ask the 5-foot-6 guard one, simple question, and over the course of the year, the answer to that question would begin to change.

“Her sophomore year, I would ask her who the best player is on the floor, and she would respond with a question — ‘Me?’,” Brooks recalled on The Bluegrass Hearing Clinic Kenny Brooks Show. “About the end of that year, she started responding with a statement — ‘Me.’“

Fast forward to her fifth year, and now, Amoore is arguably the best point guard in the country, as shown by her being a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award. This season, Amoore is averaging 18.8 points and 6.9 assists per game, both career highs.

Now, there isn’t really much to discuss when you’re trying to figure out who the best player on the floor is. When No. 3 in blue and white is out there, it’s almost always going to be her.

Amoore will look to lead Kentucky to its third-ever SEC Championship, starting on Friday. She’ll need to play at her best if she wants to help bring home some hardware.
