Cole Cubelic believes Will Levis will be game-time decision
We are all on Will Levis watch in the Bluegrass as Kentucky’s QB1 is “questionable” heading into a significant tilt with South Carolina. The closer we get to Saturday night, the more it seems like this will be a game-time decision for the involved parties.
Mark Stoops went on record Thursday evening to say that no one has been ruled out for Saturday. However, it seems that Will Levis has been unable to practice this week. That would mean redshirt freshman Kaiya Sheron is in line to get his first career start in a significant conference game.
However, nothing is final just over 24 hours before kickoff. SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic is on the call for Saturday’s night game with Tom Hart and Jordan Rodgers. The former Auburn offensive lineman did a radio hit on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday to give his take on the Levis situation after likely talking to the Kentucky coaching staff in production meetings that typically take place on Friday afternoons.
“This is a lower extremity injury for Will Levis,” Cubelic told Finebaum. “And it’s one that there’s a little bit of pain tolerance and some pain threshold issues that are going to come into play of whether or not he’s going to give it a go. I think Will Levis wants to play, but I don’t know if that’s going to be in his best interests to come out here and play tomorrow night.”
“He’s a tough kid, physical kid, gamer. He’s a guy that likes to go out and compete. I think you’ll see him in uniform tomorrow night. I think you’ll see him warm up on this field right here, and then probably after warmups, he, Coach Stoops, the medical staff will get together and say ‘where are you, how does it feel?’. They’ll go to the doctors, and they’ll make a decision of what’s going to be best for Will Levis and his future.”

That gives us another update but another one that is not very clear. But as of now, it seems like it will be a true game-time decision as to whether Levis suits up and plays against South Carolina. Cubelic pointed out that is is a layered decision due to it being early in the season and that Kentucky may want to protect Levis due to what’s awaiting him at the end of the season.
“Young man’s got a lot of money on the line,” Cubelic stated. “He’s going to be a first-round NFL draft pick one day. And I think Coach Stoops wants to assure that he has the best chance to win as many games as possible. Not just the South Carolina game. And I do think it’s an injury that could be disrupted further if he were to play on it a little bit too early and potentially keep him out more games than just Saturday night.”
We all must play the waiting game a little longer as Will Levis continues to nurse an unspecified injury.
