Will Levis now Top 5 in some 2023 NFL Mock Drafts

2023 NFL Draft buzz continues to build for Will Levis. Following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft last week, Kentucky’s quarterback popped up in the top ten of several 2023 mock drafts. A few days later, he’s cracking the top FIVE. Yesterday, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler put Levis No. 5 in his first 2023 mock, the third quarterback off the board behind Ohio State‘s CJ Stroud (No. 1), and Alabama‘s Bryce Young (No. 2).
“The top senior quarterback in next year’s class, Levis blossomed in his first season at Kentucky after transferring from Penn State,” Brugler wrote. “He is a good-sized athlete with a loose arm and the creative instincts to make plays. Despite losing Liam Coen as offensive coordinator (hired as the offensive coordinator with the Rams), Kentucky went back to the McVay/Shanahan tree and hired former 49ers quarterback coach Rick Scangarello to run its offense, so the scheme and playbook should be similar.”
Fox Sports’ Jason McIntyre went even further, slotting Levis at No. 2 behind Stroud. CBS Sports projected him No. 5 to the Giants earlier this week. ESPN’s Jordan Reid and Matt Miller also mentioned Levis in their 2023 NFL Draft primer this morning.
“The quarterbacks will once again dominate the conversation in the 2023 class, and I have to mention Kentucky’s Levis here. He’s a 6-3, 232-pound junior who has the arm and physical traits to get NFL scouts excited. He has to cut down on his turnovers (13 interceptions last year), but as he gains experience, that’s very possible. Levis isn’t the red-hot name that Young or Stroud is right now, but he’s a potential first-round talent.”

In his first season with Kentucky after transferring from Penn State, Levis threw for 2,826 yards and 24 touchdowns, while rushing for nine more. He completed 66.0% of his passes to finish with an overall passer rating of 148.3. After seeing him at Kentucky’s Pro Day and on Wan’Dale Robinson’s film, NFL scouts are taking notice. As Jack Pilgrim shared with you earlier, the feedback Vince Marrow is receiving on Levis is impressive.
“(His potential) is through the roof,” Marrow told KSR on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk. “I was told by a couple of NFL guys if Will had come out this year — and now I see why — he probably would have been an early second-round guy and one of the first quarterbacks picked.”
Hurry up, football.
