It’s pretty hard to break the internet these days, but Will Levis came close. On Tuesday, the former Kentucky quarterback turned Tennessee Titans starter launched his new cologne, Will Levis No. 8, Parfum De Mayonnaise, through a partnership with Hellmann’s Mayonnaise. The initial reaction was about what you’d expect — a mayo-infused cologne? Yuck! — but the marketing worked. The first batch sold out almost instantly, as did this morning’s restock. Hellmann’s is restocking the fragrance every day for the next week and a half starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET, so tell Siri to set an alarm if you want to get your hands on the hottest scent on the internet.

As you might expect, Levis’ cologne — and the commercial for it — was a big topic at Titans practice today. Levis even brought a bottle to the podium.

“It’s a pretty cool moment to share that yesterday,” Levis said after spritzing some for everyone to smell. “I had a lot of fun with it and it was received pretty well.”

That’s an understatement. The initial release sold out in under a minute. Priced at $8 per bottle, that will provide a lot of money for a charity to be determined.

“We didn’t expect how people were going to react to it,” Levis said. “Eight dollars a bottle, it’s going to a good cause. It’s just a really fun partnership and we’ll continue to do fun things. It’s been amazing to see how it’s all unraveled.”

Clearly, the cologne can sell. But what about the smell? Hellmann’s describes Will Levis No. 8, Parfum De Mayonnaise as having notes of mayo, lemon, parsley, vanilla, and coffee. That’s a unique combination, but Levis says the lemon stands out the most.

“I think it’s more citrusy fresh than anything. I likened it to a certain scent I couldn’t put my finger on of a hotel or resort lobby. Something like that.”

Some bottles have made the rounds at the Titans practice facility. Levis says his teammates are fans.

“They said it smells great. That’s everyone’s first comment. They’re just so surprised it doesn’t smell unpleasant. It smells good, in fact.”

Levis on his acting skills: “I was in the zone”

Levis’ mayo cologne is only half the story. The fragrance was launched with a 40-second commercial in which Levis channels his inner Derek Zoolander, dramatically vamping for the camera. In one scene, he takes a deep whiff of a jar of Hellmann’s with the Titans’ practice fields in the background. In another, he devours a piece of bread with mayo on it while sitting shirtless on a couch. In the next scene, he licks a fingerful of mayo from the jar while lying on the Titans’ indoor field.

The video has over 2.2 million views on Twitter. It was filmed over eight hours, from 4 p.m. until midnight, at the Titans practice facility. Levis said he was pretty proud of his acting debut.

“I take everything I do very seriously. I want to do everything that I do to the best of my ability and as silly and goofy as that was, the more serious I took it, the funnier I knew it would be so I really did make sure that I liked the takes that I had and I took enough. I was in the zone. I felt good about it. I think it was pretty believable.”
