Will Levis shares why every top transfer should come to Kentucky
Will Levis is a transfer portal success story. Once used almost exclusively as a “change of pace,” running option in Penn State’s offense, he transferred to Kentucky and became an NFL Draft prospect.
The Kentucky quarterback completed 65% of his passes for 2,593 yards, 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his first season as a full-time starter. He also rushed for nine touchdowns in Liam Coen’s offense. Levis believes the Wildcats’ scheme makes Kentucky the most desirable destination for playmakers in the portal.
“First and foremost, watch our tape and watch the tape our system, which is what the Rams run. It really is the best offense for anybody who has aspirations to play at the next level at any position,” Levis said Friday evening.
“That alone is very attractive, and also what we’ve done this past year is kind of proving that. Sure, it was our first year, but we’ve put up really good numbers, had some really good games and Coach Coen was able to make some really good calls. They can also look at Wan’Dale (Robinson), the year he’s had in his first year here, the first time playing in this offense and still being able to contribute like he did. It’s very attractive for any receiver, any skill position, or anybody really to play in this offense.”
Robinson had one of the best years of a pass-catcher in Kentucky history, breaking the receptions record and recording the second-most receiving yards in school history. Coen’s offense averaged 6.56 yards per play, ranking 16th nationally.
Robinson’s success should open the eyes of one player in particular, another Robinson. Former Virginia Tech wide receiver Tayvion Robinson was one of a handful of transfer portal players officially visiting Kentucky this weekend.

It’s not just Coen’s offense that makes Kentucky an attractive transfer portal destination. He believes the Wildcats are knocking on the door, prepared to crash the CFB Playoff party, in large part thanks to the contributions of transfers.
“It shows that we have contributed to the success of the program and are working to where we want to be, which is obviously to win a National Championship,” said Levis. “These past few years they’ve chipped away at it. I’ve been happy to be a part of a year where we definitely contributed to that goal. It’s a matter of continuing to improve. It’s definitely a spot where I think anybody at any position should consider, from a football standpoint alone. But also Kentucky as a school and Lexington as a city, it’s a great place to be.”
Levis Leaning Toward Return
Kentucky’s signal-caller has not made a decision about his future. He is still weighing his options, but as he waits for NFL feedback, Levis admitted he is leaning toward returning to Kentucky for the 2022 season.
“I haven’t really done or heard that much concrete information about what decision I should make. Obviously, in my gut feeling I’m leaning, and have been leaning all season towards coming back, but I want to go through that process and not make a rash decision too early.”
