Is this the worst Bad Beat in College Basketball History?

Sports gambling is not for the faint of heart. It’s supposed to be for fun because, in many instances, it will rip your heart out in the most spectacular fashion. If you’ve ever made a sports wager, you’ve probably suffered from a bad beat. That’s especially the case in the sport of college basketball.
There are a myriad of reasons as to why college basketball can be the most brutal from a sports gambling perspective. As Big Cat likes to say, “They’re just kids.” Kids do stupid things late in the game. It’s never over until it’s over.
In college football, points are hard to come by. In college basketball, teams will purposefully foul to create as many possessions as possible in late-game scenarios. It creates more opportunities for madness.
Kentucky fans were on the right side of the madness this weekend. The Cats had no business covering a 4.5-point spread at Texas after completely collapsing over the final four minutes. That’s when Otega Oweh sunk a 35-footer at the horn. Not only was it a bad beat for Texas bettors, but under-betters lost on that final shot too.
That’s a bad beat. It’s infinitely less painful than the bad beat we witnessed Wednesday night.
West Virginia was a 3.5-point favorite over Cincinnati. They led by nine points in Morgantown with less 15 seconds to play. It’s never over until it’s over.

The Bearcats banked in a three. Crazy, right? That’s when the kids decided to be kids. West Virginia threw the ensuing inbounds pass away, giving Cincinnati another shot. The three dropped with 4.6 seconds to play to make it a 62-59 win for the Mountaineers. West Virginia won but failed to cover.
That’s not a bad beat for West Virginia bettors. That’s the kind of beat that makes you question your life choices that got you to this point. Gambling on college basketball is not for the faint of heart.
