B8Xyx4YCMAAQqDh Kentucky's biggest music event, the quickly rising Forecastle Festival at Louisville's Waterfront announced its lineup today! It features a lot of old Louisville/Kentucky/southern favorites, Forecastle veterans, and some up and comers from a variety of genres. The headliners start off with Louisville's own, My Morning Jacket, who will be releasing some new music this year for the first time in what feels like forever. If you're a Kentuckian and a music junkie, you've likely seen MMJ a time or a trillion, but Jim James and company never get old. Joining them will be Billboard chart topping crooner, Sam Smith. Southern rock and jam favorites, Widespread Panic are returning to Forecastle as well, much to the delight of the deadheads who were left without any String Cheese, Umphrey's, Phish, etc etc etc last year. And closing out the headliners are indie rockers and weird voice masters, Modest Mouse. They're also releasing a new album this year. They've already dropped two new singles in the past two months! Now on to the other artists we're excited to see at Forecastle! I'm delighted to see Bowling Green rockers and general crowdpleasers, Cage the Elephant at Forecastle, as well as the popular Louisville folk group, Houndmouth, whom I've been lucky enough to see several times, on this year's lineup. Country music may not be my bag, but Jackson, Kentucky native, Sturgill Simpson is a definite talent and a force for traditional country, as opposed to popular country.   Here are some of 2015's other big draws (just some): -- TWEEDY, featuring Wilco frontman, Jeff, and his son, Spencer will be making me all nostalgic. For the 90s. Not Parks & Rec, fool. -- Tallest Man on Earth, Swedish singer-songwriter and folk sensation, but sadly, not the tallest man on earth, is supposed to be a great live show. Though I doubt he can dunk... -- Portugal. The Man, everyone's favorite indie rockers (outside Cage the Elephant perhaps) are finally making it to Forecastle! -- First Aid Kit may be your mother's favorite artists if she listened to music, but damn they're good. The Swedish folk/pop lady duo made waves on the Internet in 2014 and are showing up at big festivals across the globe. -- If you follow me on the Internets, you'll know my genre of choice has to be somewhere in the electronic sphere; naturally, I was stoked to see one of the best in the biz, RL Grime, on this year's lineup. The West Coast producer of trap/hip-hop/bass music is one of my favorite follows on Soundcloud and has a lot of really unique sounds. I think he will draw a big crowd of young'uns at Forecastle.   The other acts I'm most excited to see at this year's festival: Son Lux Cathedrals Cold War Kids iLoveMakonnen San Fermin Kiesza   CLUB'S GOIN UP. ON A TUESDAY. So, naturally, I made a playlist of some of my personal favorite tracks. https://soundcloud.com/brennanksr/sets/forecastle-201   And here's a playlist with a track by each artist for you to enjoy as well. Get your jam on, Kentucky.   http://open.spotify.com/user/wfpk/playlist/3JPtrCSaYwh8OcExSeKRdk   Weekend passes go on sale this Friday, January 30, 2015, at noon EST at ForecastleFest.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. A limited number of weekend passes start at $144.50 plus fees. See you all there! ICMYI: The artists and onlookers of Forecastle Fest 2014
