Wan’Dale Robinson isn’t the only former Cat flourishing with the New York Giants. Yusuf Corker, who went undrafted this past April, is one of the standouts at Giants training camp so far. According to writers on the beat, Corker is wearing the green dot with the second team during practice, meaning he will call plays in the preseason opener vs. the New England Patriots on Thursday. On Friday, the former Kentucky safety turned heads when he intercepted a ball in the endzone and ran it 60 yards.

From Newsday:

So when he did come down with an interception late in the workout, hauling in a pass in the end zone that was tipped by teammate Darren Evans before returning it about 60 yards across midfield, no one should have been shocked.

What has been a bit of a surprise, though, has been how well the undrafted player from Kentucky has been playing, flying around in the secondary, and coming up to make plays at the line of scrimmage in practices. He’s even been given the “green dot” helmet for the second- and third-team defenses, making him the playcaller and field general for those units. He’s also seen some time with the starters.

Today, Corker told reporters that he saw his breakout moment coming.

“Before the scrimmage, we all had a defensive group meeting, and I told everybody I was going to get a turnover that game,” Corker said. “You know, it was a pretty bold statement, but I believed in myself. Just running to the ball, good things always come when you run to the ball, so that’s how I got it.”

You can see Yusuf and Wan’Dale in action Thursday night on the NFL Network.
