ZaKiyah Johnson, Leah Macy competing for gold in FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup

Two five-star in-state talents, ZaKiyah Johnson and Leah Macy, are representing the United States down in Colombia in the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup. Today, they’ll compete against Canada for a gold medal.
While Macy has already committed to Notre Dame, Johnson is someone that Kentucky fans should continue to keep an eye on. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to root for Elizabethtown’s own in Leah Macy either.
The Bluegrass natives have been important pieces for Team USA so far. Across five games played, Johnson, a top recruiting target for new Kentucky head coach Kenny Brooks, is averaging eight points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per outing on shooting splits of 40/36.8/90. Meanwhile, Macy is posting per-game averages of 6.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals. She’s shooting 44.8 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the line.
