Zion Williamson says Tyler Herro is the most underrated recruit in the nation

This weekend at the Jordan Brand Classic, Tyler Herro had his first opportunity to compete against some of the best competition in the nation on the big stage. And he exceeded expectations. NBA scouts and executives were in attendance, celebrities came out to watch, and the Big Blue Nation kept a close watch on ESPN2, where Herro scored 13 points on 5-9 shooting, five rebounds, and five assists.

After lighting up the competition all weekend long, five-star phenom and Duke commit Zion Williamson had high praise for the future Wildcat. "Tyler is the most underrated player in our class," he said. "He's a very smooth and skilled scorer, and I feel like it goes unnoticed at times." Keldon Johnson agrees. "Buckets," Johnson said when asked about what Herro brings to the table. "A lot of people overlook him. He didn't make the McDonald's game. He's a great player, but he's an even better teammate." Herro said he appreciates the high praise, but he's going do whatever it takes to continue to prove his doubters wrong. "Right now, Zion is one of the best players in the country. For him to say that, I really appreciate that. But I'm going to continue to work every day and get better each and every day," Herro said. When it comes to Kentucky's other two commitments, Johnson and Immanuel Quickley, Williamson said the Big Blue Nation got two dogs that won't stop fighting until the final buzzer. "Immanuel (Quickley), I became really close with him this past summer," Williamson said. "Him and Keldon share this trait of being a dog, no matter who they play against. It doesn't matter what the scouting report says, they're going to come out there, and they're not going to allow anyone to bully them or walk over them. They're always going to fight until the very end." As a whole, Williamson feels Kentucky has something special with their latest batch of recruits. "With those three, (Kentucky) has the chance to do something very special," he said. Kentucky will take on Duke to open the season on November 6 in Indianapolis, and Williamson knows it isn't going to be easy to walk out of Bankers Life Fieldhouse with a victory. "It's going to be a very challenging game," Williamson said. "We're freshmen. We're going in there with the expectations of national championship or bust. We have the expectation of, if we lose, we're not good. If we don't win the national championship, we're not good. Going into this Kentucky game, it's going to be a lot of expectations, but that's why I chose Duke."
