Zvonimir Ivisic forgot he couldn't hang on the rim after a dunk: "My bad Coach, I'm sorry."
Zvonimir Ivisic literally did it all in his college debut on Saturday night. In addition to his 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, three blocks, and two steals, the 7-foot-2 freshman also picked up a flagrant and technical foul in his 16 minutes of action.
They were some pretty cheap calls though. His flagrant was in response to getting pushed by a Georgia player in the second half. Ivisic wasn’t a fan of getting bullied by a smaller Bulldog, so he may or may not have responded with a quick elbow. But it was sparked by a Georgia player doing the pushing. The Big Blue Nation loved the energy though.
But it was the technical foul that was extra cheap, even if it was the “correct” call. Ivisic’s final bucket of the game came via a dunk thanks to a beautiful pass inside from DJ Wagner. The big fella caught the ball in the paint, turned, and two-hand dunked it straight through the hoop. But instead of letting go immediately, Ivisic did a sweet chin-up on the rim.
In college basketball, that’s a technical foul. But not in Europe, where Ivisic has played basketball for all of his life up until Saturday night.

“I forgot about it,” Ivisic said through a smile in the postgame press conference. “I’m still kinda knowing the rules. I don’t know every rule here. My bad Coach, I’m sorry.“
I’m sure John Calipari will forgive you this time, Big Z. We already forgot about it. If that’s the price for this kind of performance, you can get all the technicals you want (just one per game, please). He might just bring down the rim on the next one too.
In fact, he’s nearly done that before, although he’s never gone so far as to shatter a backboard before.
“I didn’t break it, but every time I pulled up it would go down,” Ivisic added, again with a smirk on his face.
Next time, just bring the whole goal down. All of Rupp Arena might come down with it.
