BREAKING: 2023 OL Paul Mubenga commits to LSU
LSU landed a commitment from Buford (Ga.) offensive lineman Paul Mubenga on Thursday. Mubenga became the first offensive line commit in the 2023 recruiting class for offensive line coach Brad Davis.
Thanks to a late surge Davis, Mubenga spurned longtime favorite Michigan to stay in the South. Davis impressed Mubenga with his plan on his official visit. The current Tigers that hosted him backed up the positive experience they’ve had under Davis.
“He seems me as a fit for them. He can use me at any position possible,” Paul Mubenga said after his official visit. “Just depends where the team needs me the most. As of now, he’s looking to play two freshmen my freshman year in college and he thinks I can be a part of that. (His style) is very similar to what I’ve been doing so far. I can get pushed from him and get better.
“All the guys he’s coached have definitely gotten better. You can tell they were impressed with what they were able to accomplish. They all love each other and they’re going for the same goal.”

Michigan entered Mubenga’s official visit weekend to LSU at the top of his recruitment. While he named the Wolverines his favorite after the trip, he realized LSU was the place to be.

“LSU gave me a lot to think about,” he said at the time. “The position I play and could be coming in as a freshman and what they had to offer offer off the field (stood out). All that put together with coach Davis gave me a lot to think about.”
Paul Mubenga ranks as the No. 53 interior offensive line and No. 56 overall prospect in Georgia, according to the On3 Consensus. He picked the Tigers over offers from Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.
