2024 LCA PG Jada Richard commits to LSU WBB
Coming off the No. 1 2023 class in the country, LSU women’s basketball is back on the recruiting trail, picking up its first commitment of the 2024 class. Jada Richard from Lafayette Christian Academy announced her commitment to LSU on Thursday afternoon, less than a week after the Tigers won their first national championship.
The 5-foot-7 point guard out of LCA is the top player in Louisiana according to Louisiana Girls Rankings and was named to the Prep Girls Hoops 1st Team All-State in Louisiana for 2023 alongside current Tiger signee Mikaylah Williams. Richard has now won three straight state championship in the Division II final. Richard scored 32 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, and five steals and was named the Most Outstanding Player.
“It’s a blessing,” Richard told the Advocate after. “Winning has become the culture here at LCA. When you come to LCA, you’re coming be a part of a winning culture.”
The stronghold over the state of Louisiana continues for Mulkey.
Richard is not currently ranked in the 2024 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings Super 60, a list that does not include any player from Louisiana and only four players from Texas. After a stellar junior season, we’ll see how much Richard moves up now that she’s committed to the reigning national champs. Richard held offers from Ole Miss, USF, Arizona State, SMU, and several others.
Mulkey’s run continues
The 2024 class marks Mulkey’s third full class, and in the first two she’s continued to prove herself as one of the best in the country. In her first class, the hall-of-famer brought in Flau’Jae Johnson, S’Myah Smith, Alisa Williams, and Amani Bartlett, with Smith and Johnson being key players on a national title team in their first year.

In 2023, Mulkey had the No. 1 class in the country, signing Mikaylah Williams, Aalyah Del Rosario, Angelica Velez, and Janae Kent, ranking as the No. 2,7, 44, and 73 players in the country.
Of course, Mulkey has been attacking the portal every season, bringing in top players for this championship run, but the ultimate goal is to build this program through freshmen and high school recruiting. The foundation is in a good place moving forward and Richard is another high-level name to add to the future.
This was written about Richards after her sophomore season in May of 2022. From Louisiana Girls Rankings:
“Jada led LCA to another state championship this season but she really stole the show this year when she dropped 107 points in one day! scoring 55pts against John Curtis and following that up later that same day scoring 52pts versus Southern Lab (Both teams won state championship). It’s was no surprise to see LSU sitting at all of her games during the April Evaluations. Don’t be surprised when she has a huge summer and lands herself in the top 100 in the ESPNW rankings.”
