2024 Louisiana DL De'Myrion Johnson commits to LSU
LSU needs to hit on defensive tackles in the 2024 recruiting class and the Tigers reeled one in on Thursday. New Iberia (La.) Westgate defensive tackle De’Myrion Johnson committed to LSU, he announced.
“I can play for my hometown team and go down the road and put on the purple and gold and rep the Tigers,” Johnson told On3’s Sam Spiegelman about his decision.
It’s always been a home feeling for him when he spent time in Baton Rouge. In the end, it was that pull that helped LSU land him.
“LSU feels like home,” Johnson told On3 in August. “I’ve been talking to a lot of the coaches over there and they’ve been welcoming to me and make it feel like home. I don’t even have to introduce myself to everyone; they already knew who I am. It was funnest school I’ve been to hands down and the coaches are fun, playing with you, enjoying everything with you, and having fun with you.”
“It’s not just talking football, but game planning for after football,” he continued. “It’s more about life after football and what you’re gonna do with football to get your degree.”

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Johnson’s been on the radar for quite some time, earning offers from the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas and numerous others. Oklahoma State hosted him for an official visit earlier this spring.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he ranks as the No. 519 overall prospect in the country and No. 45 defensive lineman in the nation.
LSU’s 2024 recruiting class now has 16 commitments on board with more than half hailing from the state of Louisiana.
Johnson is teammates with 2025 defensive back Jaboree Anotine, one of the best prospects in the country. Antoine is coming off a dominant sophomore season, totaling 32 tackles, five interceptions, 11 pass breakups and a defensive touchdown. On3 ranks Antoine as the No. 2 cornerback and No. 21 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
