LSU signee JT Lindsey wins 2024 Warrick Dunn Award

A talented LSU-bound prospect made some Warrick Dunn Award history this weekend.
Alexandria running back J.T. Lindsey became the first winner of the honor from outside the Baton Rouge coverage area.
The award adds further to an already loaded résumé for the 5-foot-11, 185-pound multisport athlete who was named the District 2-5A Offensive MVP and LSWA Class 5A Offensive Outstanding Player this winter.
Lindsey racked up 2,476 yards and 33 touchdowns on 324 carries in a senior season in which he led the Trojans to their first-ever undefeated regular season, a district title in a tough 2-5A and a second-ever state championship appearance, including their first-ever trip to the Caesars Superdome.
He rushed for 100 yards or more in 13 of his 14 games — only falling short in a 98-yard Week 2 vs. Union Parish — and topped the 200-yard mark six times.

Still, Zachary wide receiver Trey’Dez Green, a 2024 LSU signee, won the first statewide honor and kept the award in the Baton Rouge area once again.

In addition to Lindsey’s player award, a pair of state-championship coaches were also recognized at the banquet as the inaugural winners of new awards.
David Simoneaux (Central High) was named the first LHSAA Network Coach of the Year, and Lyle Fitte (South Plaquemines) was named the first Maelen Brooks Award winner for an unsung hero.
