2024 Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater cornerback Cai Bates included LSU in his Top 10 schools, he announced on Wednesday with On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland, FSU, Colorado, Florida, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and UCF all made the cut for the four-star prospect.

“LSU has a great culture and the staff really makes you feel welcomed there, especially with me being number one on their board,” Bates told Fawcett on why LSU made the cut. “And on top of that being DBU as well having a lot of legends come back and give tips to the future of the program. I have a good chance to come in and make an impact early on as well.”

Bates knows he’d like to have a decision by the end of the summer. Alabama, LSU and Tennessee, which will all host him in June for an official visit, have separated themselves in his recruitment.

“I’m going to take my official visits then I plan on being committed by the end of July,” Bates told On3. “I’ll have a Top 10 coming out soon. I plan on being committed before my senior season starts. I’ll cut it down to five before I commit.”

For official visits, Alabama will host him this weekend, Tennessee will host him June 16 and LSU will close out June on the 23rd. Florida State and Colorado are two schools also in the mix for visits. LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Bates ranks as the No. 161 overall prospect and No. 19 cornerback in America.
