LSU is the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine leader for 2023 Arlington (Tex.) Martin defensive back Javien Toviano and he will be back on campus on Saturday, he announced. Toviano will visit Baton Rouge for the LSU-Southern matchup.

Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and others continue to battle LSU for the four-star defensive back. He was discussing the possibility of committing before his senior season began, but will instead take visits before doing that.

“It’s definitely shifted a little bit. Just because I don’t want to rush anything,” he told On3. “Or commit, and then visit a place and like the place a lot more. I want to have more knowledge about the places I’m considering, and make the best decision for myself. Letting it flow, and when it feels right.

“I plan to make four more official visits. I’m a guy that likes to keep my business close, as a lot of people know. I would say week to week, potentially. If I’m going to be somewhere, maybe put something out a week prior. Especially if it’s a Saturday game. Or potentially I could drop a huge list of the four schools that I’m going to visit.”

LSU continues to push for Javien Toviano

In July, Toviano was on campus for the Bayou Splash. It was the latest time the coaching staff was able to continue its push for one of the nation’s best.

“I thought it was great seeing all the familiar faces I saw back in the spring. Kind of catching up with Coach (Robert) Steeples,” he told On3’s Gerry Hamilton last month. “It was great getting back out there, kind of on a casual visit. Not too much business. Not mapping out if I were to be there or anything. I just had a little fun. Threw some balloons around, so that’s just kind of how it went.”

Toviano is being recruited by a number of members of the LSU Top 5 ranked class, according to On3.

“There are definitely guys they have committed that I have relationships with,” Javien Toviano said. “Daylen Austin, we were down there together. A couple of others guys we have been picking up. Seeing that we could be one of the best secondaries in the country if I went there. Things like that.”

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Javien Toviano ranks as the No. 36 overall prospect in the country, No. 5 safety in the nation and No. 6 overall prospect in Texas.
