4-star LSU LB commit Xavier Atkins set for Bayou Splash
2024 four-star Humble (Tex.) Summer Creek linebacker Xavier Atkins will be back in Baton Rouge for LSU’s Bayou Splash next week, he told On3 on Saturday. Atkins’s been committed to the Tigers since July 5, 2022.
It’ll be his first visit back to LSU since April, which is a good thing for the Tigers to finally get him back in town.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Atkins ranks as the No. 287 overall prospect in the country, No. 26 linebacker in the nation and No. 51 prospect in Texas.
LSU defensive coordinator Matt House and assistant head coach Frank Wilson were by Summer Creek High this spring to check on the longtime commit. The Tigers are also trending to get Atkins back on campus unofficially this summer.
“They constantly hit me up. I’m a Boot boy no matter what so I feel like we’ve got to be loyal to Louisiana and stay in Louisiana,” Atkins said this spring. “They want me to keep me bad and they’re doing whatever to recruit me. They’re recruiting Mom, whatever they can to get me back to Louisiana. Being from Louisiana, you know I still have crazy love for The Boot.”

Programs like Arkansas, TCU, Colorado, Utah, Texas A&M and others are after Atkins, looking to flip him off his commitment to the Tigers. He’s taken multiple official visits, but is planning to take one to LSU, at this stage.
The former Jonesboro-Hodge (La.) star transferred to Summer Creek this offseason. He’s getting used to his new program.
“I’m getting used to it out here,” he said in the spring. “It’s amazing. I’ve gotten to see so much more out here, gotten to see more schools in Texas, and more coaches coming out to see me. I love it out here. I love Texas.”
