4-star PF, Louisiana's No. 1 prospect Corey Chest sets LSU official visit
2023 New Orleans (La.) Eleanor McMain forward Corey Chest, the No. 1 prospect in Louisiana according to On3, was re-offered by new LSU head coach Matt McMahon. Now, he tells On3’s Joe Tipton that he will take an official visit to LSU on June 8.
The Top 100 overall prospect came away impressed with the new head coach of the Tigers from their initial conversation in April. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives LSU a healthy lead.
“He is a very cool dude. Lots of energy when we talked,” Corey Chest told The Bengal Tiger. “Right away I knew I was welcomed there. He said he can’t wait to get me in that Purple uniform that got them three bold gold letters, L-S-U. He said he likes my motor, my upside and I impact winning.
“I’m the guy he needs in that 2023 class.”
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Corey Chest ranks as the No. 76 overall prospect and No. 13 power forward nationally. Houston, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tulane and others have also offered Chest, who had a big spring on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

“It’s exciting,” Chest told The Circuit. “We’ve been off so the second session, it’s really exciting to come put on a show and get noticed. I just got to lock in on defense, contesting shots and lock in mentally.”
