4-star QB Colin Hurley enjoys putting recruiting hat on for LSU
LSU quarterback commit Colin Hurley was back in Baton Rouge over the weekend recruiting for the Tigers. The Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian signal caller has ben busy this summer, but has been in Baton Rouge multiple times.
“Great visit. It’s always good to get back on campus and to see the coaches and players,” Hurley told On3. “This trip was all about helping with the recruiting efforts and I think you’ll see some things shake out from this weekend.”
LSU’s trending for a couple prospects like wideout Jelani Watkins and offensive lineman Ethan Calloway, both of which were in town when Hurley was. LSU hosted other targets that he was able to assist with as well.
“I’ve built a relationship with a bunch of the current players,” he said. “They’re working hard, lifting and it really looks like things are going well within the team. As far as recruiting, you’ll see a few things come from this weekend. We had two great dinners, too — one at Tiger Stadium and another at coach Kelly’s house.”
Hurley continues to push for LSU on the recruiting front
Back in November, Hurley committed to the Tigers and reclassified to the 2024 class. Since then, he’s been a strong recruiter for the program ahead of joining the program.
After taking in multiple games, seeing LSU win the SEC West and getting more time around the staff, his message is simple.
“My message is clear,” Hurley said. “Coach Kelly is the winningest active head coach in college football. He’s had tremendous success throughout his entire career and we saw a glimpse of that last season – his first at LSU. When you look at LSU, you have to consider the program’s history, it’s fans, Tiger Stadium and how this place is gritty and kinda grimy.

Strong Elite 11 showing for LSU commit
Hurley is coming off a strong outing at the Elite 11 Finals earlier this month. He finished 7th in On3’s rankings for top performers, also earning the smoothest release honor from On3.
“Few Elite 11 finalists spun the ball as well as Colin Hurley,” On3 director of scouting Charles Power wrote. “The ball almost always comes out of Hurley’s hand cleanly. At around 6-foot-0.5, 220 pounds, Hurley has a compact, powerful build. He uses the developed base and lower body along with his fluid throwing motion to generate easy RPM’s on his throws.
“Originally a 2025 prospect who reclassified to the 2024 cycle, Hurley will need to continue improving his movement skills and developing as a player on Friday nights, but the pure passing ability was on display in Redondo Beach.”
Hurley is the No. 326 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 18 quarterback and the No. 48 prospect in state of Florida.
