4-star S Dashawn McBryde commits to LSU
2024 Denham Springs (La.) defensive back Dashawn McBryde committed to LSU, he announced on Saturday.
The Denham Springs defensive back returned to Baton Rouge last weekend for another visit at LSU, which gave him the chance to spend time around plenty of the staff. He’s back at LSU for the Spring Game.
The charge was led by names like head coach Brian Kelly, safeties coach Kerry Cooks, quarterbacks coach and area recruiter Joe Sloan, Director of Player Personnel Will Redmond and Director of Player Development Jordan Arcement.
“(Kelly) was just saying how he wants me to come to LSU. I like how he goes about his business and how he handles everything as a coach,” McBryde said. “Coach Cooks is a very intelligent man in his gameplan, which is something I like. Sloan is a good man to talk to. He’s also a very good coach as well.”
On Monday, On3 updated the Top 300 for the 2024 class – and McBryde made his debut ahead of his LSU commitment.

Now, McBryde is a four-star and Top 200 overall prospect, landing at No. 194 overall in the On300 released on Monday. He’s also ranked as the No. 19 safety in the nation and No. 5 prospect in Louisiana. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, McBryde’s the No. 210 overall prospect in the nation and No. 18 safety nationally.
The Denham Spring safety is coming off a big junior season with 46 tackles, four tackles for loss, nine interceptions, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and two touchdowns on defense. He set the school’s single season record for interceptions, which helped land McBryde All-State honors this past year.
LSU sits with 13 commitments in the 2024 recruiting class with the addition of McBryde. He joins four-star safety Maurice Williams as the pair of safeties committed to the Tigers.
