2024 Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes wide receiver JoJo Stone backed off his commitment to LSU, reopening his recruitment as his senior season approaches playoff time.

“I would like to thank the entire staff for taking the time to get to know me as a player and as a person,” Stone told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Being committed to LSU has been nothing but the greatest. I am fortunate to be a part of something that will always be unique. Thank you to the LSU fan base for your unwavering support. It has been incredibly difficult to decide, but I am confident that God is perfect and makes no mistakes. With that being said I will be decommitting from LSU and reopening my recruitment!”

The four-star LSU commit reaffirmed his pledge this summer, shutting down his recruitment, but ultimately there was a parting of ways between the sides. Stone committed to LSU in July 2022.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 344 overall prospect in the nation, No. 60 wide receiver in the country and No. 36 prospect in Georgia.

JoJo Stone scouting report

“Shows good agility and adequate play speed with the ball in his hands. Has worked out as a wide receiver on the camp circuit, but could also project as a defensive back at the next level. Shows a good feel for working in space as a ball carrier. Has grown over an inch since his sophomore year, now checking in around 5-foot-10.5, 180 pounds.

“Does not have many athletic testing numbers to speak of, and ran track as a sophomore with a personal best of 11.70 seconds in the 100 meters. Has some genuine positional ambiguity that should be hammered out moving forward.”
