For five former LSU football players, Sunday marks a critical step in their journey to the Super Bowl. The NFL’s Conference Championship Games will decide which teams punch their ticket to the big game and LSU‘s presence ensures its impressive streak of Super Bowl representation will continue for a 24th consecutive year.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels will lead the Washington Commanders into Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the NFC Championship at 2 p.m. CT on FOX. Daniels’ rookie season has been a revelation in the NFL, showcasing the same poise and dual-threat talent that made him LSU’s third Heisman Trophy winner in 2023. The Eagles, meanwhile, feature two LSU alumni on their practice squad: running back Ty Davis-Price and defensive back Andre Sam.

Later Sunday evening, the AFC Championship Game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. CT on CBS as the Buffalo Bills travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs. LSU long snapper Reid Ferguson and center Will Clapp both play for the Bills. Buffalo will look to dethrone and outlast the reigning AFC powerhouse and give the Bills a shot at Super Bowl glory.

No matter which teams advance, LSU is guaranteed to have a player in the Super Bowl, extending a streak that began in January 2002. That year, Kevin Faulk helped the New England Patriots secure the first of their dynasty’s titles. The streak highlights LSU’s ongoing legacy of producing NFL talent ready to shine on football’s biggest stage.

Daniels is chasing his own place in LSU’s rich history. Should the Commanders win Sunday, he would become just the third Tiger quarterback to start in a Super Bowl, joining Joe Burrow (Super Bowl LVI) and David Woodley (Super Bowl XVII).
