A look at LSU commit Ju'Juan Johnson's red-hot season

LSU cornerback commitment Ju’Juan Johnson is one of Louisiana’s most recognizable high school football prospects, and for good reason.
The Lafayette Christian Academy quarterback has been a standout for one of the state’s top teams across his entire high school career, and he’s not slowed down as a senior.
Through five games, Johnson has 1,861 total yards of offense under his belt.
He’s 68-for-108 passing (63%) for 1,175 yards and 16 touchdowns, and the versatile quarterback has logged 55 carries for 686 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s turned in three 100-plus rushing yard outings in five games this season, and he’s passed for at least three touchdowns in four of five games.
With five games left, here’s a look at Johnson’s midseason highlights from LCA.
For nearly 25 years, dust has built up on one of the Louisiana High School Athletics Association’s (LHSAA) top individual records.
In 1999, quarterback Brock Berlin wrapped up a storied high school career at Evangel with 13,659 total yards on offense. It was the most in Louisiana high school football history, and nobody has topped the mark since.
24 years later, Johnson is making a run at the top spot on the list.
As a junior in 2022, Johnson led LCA to the state title game by finishing the year with 5,438 total yards. That performance came off a sophomore season when he closed out with 3,170 total yards on offense, and a freshman season in 2020 where he stepped in and added 824 yards of offense.
With 8,278 career passing yards and 92 touchdowns in 41 games played, and 2,889 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns, Johnson now sits at 11,293 yards of total offense and 132 touchdowns between his arm and legs.

They are head-turning numbers, but will it be enough to take over Berlin as Louisiana’s most productive high school player on offense?
Johnson is 2,366 yards from reaching Berlin’s mark of 13,659 yards across his career at Evangel.
With five games left on the regular season schedule, Johnson would need to average 473 yards per game to tie the mark. In his first five games as a senior, Johnson averaged 372 yards per game.
The good news: LCA, sitting at 4-1, has made it a routine to not only go deep into the playoffs, but often reach the state title game at the Superdome in New Orleans.
That means LCA could play four more games beyond the regular season. If Johnson makes it back to the state title game, he would need to average 262 yards per game – which is well within reach given the production across his high school career.
