Aaliyah Chavez continues to shine this summer as No. 1 prospect
Aaliyah Chavez, the No. 1 player in the country, continues to light it up on the Nike EYBL circuit, this time in Session 3 in Louisville, Kentucky this weekend.
Chavez leads a Cy Fair team with LSU commit Bella Hines and top 25 prospect Ayla McDowell that entered the weekend 9-0. Through three games, Chavez has scored 79 points and Cy Fair continues to pack gyms across the country.
Her performances on Friday sent social media into a frenzy.
Cy Fair went 2–0 on Friday, but lost its first game of the summer on Saturday morning to All Iowa Attack, dropping them to 11-1.
Chavez was named the No. 1 player on On3’s first-ever women’s basketball high school rankings released in late June. Talia Goodman wrote this about the five-star prospect:
“Lubbock (Texas) Monterey point guard Aaliyah Chavez comes in at No. 1 on the inaugural ranking and continues to dominate on the Nike EYBL circuit this offseason, leading all players with 23.4 points and averaging 4.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists on 51% shooting from the field and 48% from deep.
She was also named the Texas girls’ basketball Gatorade Player of the Year in March, along with earning All-America and all-state honors. The 5-foot-9 point guard recently took an unofficial visit to LSU and has stood out as the top prospect in the 2025 class.”
Where Chavez’ recruitment stands
Chavez took an unofficial visit to LSU last month, further putting the Tigers in a prime position to land Chavez later this year. Her recruitment is far from over, though, as she continues to line up official visits for the fall. Programs like Texas, Tennessee, USC, UCLA, and others are still recruiting her consistently.

Chavez and her father, Sonny, enjoyed their visit to Baton Rouge and continue to speak highly about Kim Mulkey and the coaching staff.
“She likes to talk directly and we like that,” Sonny Chavez said. “We want to know exactly what’s going to happen and what it’s going to look like. Once we got out there it felt how it was supposed to feel like. We’ve taken Texas and Texas Tech unofficials, but Louisiana is different that’s for sure.”
Bella Hines remains a high-level scorer
Hines was ranked as the No. 24 player in the country by On3 last month and continues to have strong showings this summer with Cy Fair.
The LSU commit is rated a 96 by On3, putting her just inside the initial top 25 list. Hines committed to Kim Mulkey and LSU back in April and at the time was outside of the top 30 on ESPN’s girls basketball rankings. Since then she’s had a few strong showings on the AAU circuit alongside Aaliyah Chavez and Ayla McDowell and further proven that she’s a worthy top 25 prospect in the class.
In her junior season, Hines averaged 33 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game and made 138 3-pointers and 208 free throws in her junior season and broke the record for most career points in Eldorado history.
