Alexis Morris in New York for Monday's WNBA Draft
Fresh off winning a National Championship, LSU guard Alexis Morris is in New York on Monday for the WNBA Draft.
Morris became one of 15 players invited to the 2023 WNBA Draft. The draft is made up of three rounds, with 12 picks in each round for a total of 36 players selected.
Beyond Morris, LSU standouts LaDazhia Williams and Jasmine Carson are also draft-eligible following the 2022-23 season.
LSU had two players selected in the 2022 WNBA Draft with Khayla Pointer and Faustine Aifuwa. Pointer was selected with the first pick of Round 2 (No. 13 overall), while Aifuwa came off the board with the No. 11 pick in Round 3 (No. 35 overall).
Both were selected by the Las Vegas Aces. The team’s President is Nikki Fargas, who had coached both during her time as head coach in Baton Rouge.
Morris shined bright in LSU’s run to a National Championship
Morris averaged 15.2 points during her 64 games in Baton Rouge, but she elevated her game in the NCAA Tournament.

Morris averaged 16.8 points and 3.8 assists during LSU’s run to a title, and she turned in at least 20 points in wins during the Elite 8, Final Four and National Championship games.
Morris helped catapult the Tigers into the title game with 27 points in an upset win over Virginia Tech. That included 16 points in the second half, which helped erase a deficit that had climbed to 16 points in the third quarter.
In the most-watched women’s college basketball game of all time, Morris saved her best for last.
In LSU’s National Championship Game win, she scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half and finished with an impressive nine assists to help the Tigers set an NCAA Championship Game record with 102 points.

Monday’s WNBA Draft will be held at Spring Studios in New York. The draft will air on ESPN at 6 p.m. CT.
LSU has had 20 players drafted into the WNBA.
