An early look at the top Louisiana recruits in 2024
The state of Louisiana always produces plenty of college prospects year in, year out. The class of 2024 is no different and with the On300 released, The Bengal Tiger takes a look at the top Louisiana recruits.
Jackson (La.) East Feliciana TE Trey’Dez Green: A 6-7, 230-pounder that plays both basketball and football, LSU already offered him in both. The Tigers are the early On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine leader. He’s fresh off a visit to campus and his recruitment is starting to pick up.
Scouting notes: “Trey’Dez Green is one of the biggest mismatches in the passing game in the 2024 cycle at this stage. His stature and catch radius are outstanding and he shows some unique athleticism after the catch at 6-foot-7, 230 pounds. It’s easy to see why he’s has offers on the basketball court as a power forward – he’s that kind of big athletic target in the passing game.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 15 overall prospect, No. 1 TE, No. 1 in Louisiana
Many (La.) S Tylen Singleton: Another one of the top Louisiana recruits, LSU extended an early offer here as well. The 6-2, 200-pound prospect added 75 tackles, four tackles for loss, four interceptions including two for scores and a sack as a sophomore. Arkansas, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and others have also offered.
Scouting notes: “Tylen Singleton looks like one of the better linebacker prospects at this stage. Singleton has the size of a big safety right now but should continue adding mass and eventually play in the box at the next level. His play speed and physicality stood out.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 50 overall prospect, No. 4 LB, No. 2 in Louisiana
LSU-Bama battling brewing for Wardell Mack?
Marrero (La.) John Ehret CB Wardell Mack: LSU just entered the mix for the 6-0, 170-pound prospect, who grabbed his first offer from Alabama. The Tigers hosted him for a visit after extending the offer and are pushing early on for the highly touted New Orleans area standout.
Scouting notes: “Wardell Mack is a nimble defensive back with some technical refinement and smooth movement skills. He looks to have grown a bit since last year. Mack could play multiple spots in the secondary but looks most equipped as a nickel or outside corner at this stage.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 88 overall prospect, No. 10 CB, No. 3 in Louisiana
Destrehan (La.) EDGE Kolaj Cobbins: LSU hasn’t offered yet, but the 6-3, 210-pounder could be the latest national recruit out of Destrehan. One of the top Louisiana recruits, Cobbins has plenty of upside and could continue to rise up the ranks. Ole Miss, Michigan, Florida State and others have also offered.

Scouting notes: “Kolaj Cobbins’ play speed and ability to dip and bend around the edge jumped out. He closes really quickly and regularly runs down ball carriers from the back side. We saw him line up both on the edge and at linebacker, but he likely projects as a pass rusher long term. He’ll need to keep adding size like many of the top EDGE prospects at this stage, but the early signs are very encouraging.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 143 overall prospect, No. 15 EDGE, No. 4 in Louisiana
Johnson a state champion, one of the top Louisiana recruits
New Iberia (La.) Westgate DL De’Myrion Johnson: A part of one of the state’s best programs that LSU has recruited hard, the 6-3, 280-pounder is coming off a state championship. Now, he’s already an On300 prospect after his sophomore tape impressed in a big way. Nebraska, Ole Miss and others are in the picture early on.
Scouting notes: “De’Myrion Johnson is one of the more productive defensive linemen we evaluated this go around. He was in the backfield a good bit as a sophomore. Johnson shows a quick first step and closing speed as a finisher.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 234 overall prospect, No. 22 DL, No. 5 in Louisiana
New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine ATH Bobby Kennedy: Rounding out the top Louisiana recruits in the On300, Kennedy visited LSU last weekend, getting a chance to check out the program. Ole Miss is his lone Power Five offer at the moment, but expect him to pick up some steam on the recruiting trail as more colleges lay eyes on him.
Scouting notes: “Bobby Kennedy is a big athlete with some intriguing flashes as a two-way player. He’s a big target at wide receiver and had some eye-catching plays as a physical presence at safety.” -Charles Power
On300 ranking: No. 240 overall prospect, No. 17 ATH, No. 6 in Louisiana
