Angel Reese teases joining Wayans family sitcom, 'Poppa's House'

Angel Reese was surprised this week to learn she had recently joined the universe of CBS sitcom “Poppa’s House,” starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.
And the former LSU star, a leader on the Lady Tigers’ 2023 national championship team, teased during a social-media conversation with Kim Wayans the potential of a bigger role in the show’s next season.
“Jeez, my celebrity crush in Angel Reese,” Damon Jr.’s character, Junior, admitted to his wife during Episode 16, which aired Monday, in a reference that become a running conversation piece of the episode.
When pointed out to Reese on social media, she remembered having met members of the show during an offseason visit to Los Angeles.
Kim, who wrote or directed six of the 18 first-season episodes, responded with messages of “I was bummed I missed you that day #Tallgirlpower” and “If we get a second season of #PoppasHouse, Jr’s fantasy crush is gonna have to come thru!”
“Let’s consider it DONE,” Reese said.
Reese is currently preparing for her own second with Chicago Sky after being the franchise’s No. 7 overall pick in last year’s WNBA draft.
The Maryland native initially signed with the home-state Lady Terrapins out of high school as a highly regarded prospect and McDonald’s All-American in 2020 and earned All-Freshman and All-Defensive selections during her two seasons in the Big Ten.

But the 6-foot-3 forward transferred to LSU in 2022 and saw her star rise immensely both on and off the court during the national-title season, the first of her two years in Baton Rouge.
Reese earned more than a half-dozen All-America selections in purple and gold and 2024 SEC Player of the Year honors among some of the highlights of her decorated tenure.
She meanwhile became one of the nation’s most prominent faces and highest-earners of the new era of college sports that allows student-athletes to monetize their name, image and likeness (NIL).
Reese has carried success in the basketball and business arenas to the next level, including WNBA All-Rookie and All-Star selections, sponsorship deals with dozens of companies and features in several magazines, a Latto and Cardi B music video and a six-part Amazon Prime docuseries, “The Money Game: LSU” among her consistent presence in popular culture.
And, next up? Perhaps a guest appearance on network primetime sitcom created and starred in by several members of the Wayans family, which has been prominent in show business and comedy for decades.
