Late Wednesday night, LSU landed a commitment from transfer pitcher Anthony Eyanson from UC San Diego, announced via social media. Coming off of a sophomore season that turned heads and had several top coaches in the sport contacting him, he visited LSU earlier this week and now is committed to play for Jay Johnson’s squad in 2025.

Eyanson appeared in 14 games this past season and made nine starts. During that time, he totaled a 6-2 record and had a 3.07 ERA, along with 85 strikeouts. It was quite the breakout after he went 2-1 with a 4.34 ERA in eight appearances as a freshman in 2023. Just a day after adding another rising sophomore phenom in Daniel Dickinson, Johnson has secured his weekend pitching rotation with major names from the transfer portal.

Eyanson earned second team All-Big West honors in 2024 and his .190 opponent batting average ranked fourth in the conference. He will have two years of eligibility remaining as he joins Jay Johnson’s squad in Baton Rouge.
