Auburn DB transfer Austin Ausberry commits to LSU
Auburn defensive back Austin Ausberry committed to LSU on Tuesday, he announced on Twitter. The former Baton Rouge (La.) U-High standout will have three years of eligibility remaining.
One of the top commits in Auburn’s 2022 class, the former four-star recruit redshirted his freshman season. He only played 35 total snaps during the 2023 season, seeing action in four games. He made one tackle in each of his first two seasons on the Plains.
Ausberry means the Tigers bring another Baton Rouge native home after he bounced between safety and nickel for Auburn. Ausberry was ranked as the No. 258 overall prospect, No. 23 safety nationally and No. 13-ranked prospect in Louisiana, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
With Ausberry on board, LSU now has four total transfers committed for the 2024 season. He joins former Texas A&M defensive back Jardin Gilbert, former Mississippi State wide receiver Zavion Thomas and former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann.
