Auburn OF transfer Chris Stanfield commits to LSU
Auburn outfielder Chris Stanfield entered the Transfer Portal earlier this month and on Tuesday, committed to LSU, he announced. LSU coach Jay Johnson stayed hot in the transfer portal with the commitment.
“Thank you God for your many blessings!,” Stanfield said. “I am very excited to announce that I will be transferring to Louisiana State University to further my athletic & academic career! Geaux Tigers!”
That makes six transfers headed to Baton Rouge. Indiana State pitcher Luke Hayden, Mount St. Mary’s pitcher Deven Sheerin, Wofford transfer Zac Cowan, USF pitcher Chandler Dorsey and Indiana State transfer catcher and infielder Luis Hernandez are the other transfers so far.
Stanfield played two seasons with the Tigers and appeared in 52 games while starting 51 in 2024 with a .276 batting average, a .365 on-base percentage, and a .395 slugging percentage for the season. He had four home runs and 25 RBIs on 51 total hits. He also stole nine bases. He struck out 38 times in 185 at-bats.
On the defensive side of the ball, Stanfield had a .981 fielding percentage, only making two errors while making 103 putouts and two outfield assists.

In May 2024, Stanfield was named to the SEC Community Service Team.
Stanfield attended Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was one of the top-rated players coming out of high school. Perfect Game ranked him as the 84th-best player in the country and the 20th-best player overall. He was also the 17th-ranked player and the fifth-ranked outfielder in the state of Florida.
There are two windows for the Transfer Portal in college baseball. The more notable of the two opens in late May, while the NCAA Tournament is still underway, and will remain open for 45 total days. There is, however, another portal window in December that lasts 15 days.
