BREAKING: 2024 Louisiana LB Xavier Atkins commits to LSU
2024 Jonesboro (La.) Jonesboro-Hodge LB Xavier Atkins announced his commitment to LSU, adding to the 2024 class.
He committed to LSU just one day after decommitting from Missouri as he chose the Tigers over Oklahoma State, Louisiana Tech and Missouri among others.
Atkins’s recruitment really picked up during the spring, after having been committed to Missouri since February. LSU was one of the schools after him, and hosted him for a visit back in March. That is where he grew close with Matt House, which played a major factor in his decision.
“It was tight. I like the new coaching staff there, especially Matt House, the linebackers coach,” Atkins said. “We’ve got a good bond. We’re going to pick up by the time my junior year comes around, start texting and stuff. I like LSU and I like the new coaching staff.

“He cared about me as a person and not as a player because some people just want you for the player, but he wanted me for the player and a person. So, I like any coach like that. If you care about me off the field, I really want to come player for you.”
Atkins currently ranks as the No. 40 overall linebacker and No. 6 prospect in Louisiana for the class of 2024, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
