BREAKING: 4-star CB Ondre Evans commits to LSU
The LSU football staff has reeled in a third commitment in the span of four days, and the trio of prospects are all on board for the 2024 class.
On Thursday, Nashville four-star cornerback Ondre Evans announced his commitment to LSU.
Evans had picked up a number of notable college offers this month, including an SEC trio of LSU, Alabama and Georgia.
He’s the 18th commitment into the 2024 class for the Tigers, and he’s the first prospect on board from the state of Tennessee.
The fast-rising cornerback is ranked by On3 as the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee for the 2024 cycle.
LSU checked all the boxes to get Evans on board
Following a number of visits this offseason, Evans chose to both shuffle up his official visit plans and shut down his recruitment.
Evans went public with his LSU commitment on Thursday, and he’s now locked in an official visit to Baton Rouge for this weekend.
“I was lucky enough to visit all over the country and saw a lot of cool places,” Evans told The Bengal Tiger staff. “The things I wanted most were a program with a track record of developing my position, a coaching staff that got me and believed in me at a high level, academics were valued, and big time football.”
Evans shined bright at LSU’s Elite Camp, and with head coach Brian Kelly and cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples both looking on, he looked the part of the best cornerback on hand.
Now, the On3 Top 100 prospect is officially a part of the 2024 class at LSU.
“LSU was the last place we went, and I knew the minute camp was over I had to be a Tiger,” Evans said. “I was told I have tiger blood in me from family roots in Louisiana.
“LSU checked all the boxes. Committing early allows me to help build a recruiting class. I plan to help recruit every Nashville kid I can to LSU.”
LSU has offers out to a pair of Nashville quarterbacks across the next two cycles in 2025’s George MacIntyre and 2026’s Jared Curtis.

LSU heating up at cornerback in the 2024 class
With Evans on board, the Tigers now have commitments from multiple cornerback prospects.
Lafayette Christian Academy’s Ju’Juan Johnson flipped his commitment from Colorado to LSU, while the Tigers also hold an in-state pledge from Warren Easton’s Wallace Foster IV. Both could see time at cornerback or at nickel. LSU also has an out-of-state commitment in from Georgia’s Zion Ferguson, who committed to the Tigers in August 2022.
LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples and the staff will host Georgia four-star cornerback Jalyn Crawford this weekend, while Florida four-star cornerback target Cai Bates will make an official visit to Baton Rouge next weekend.
LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples and the staff will host Georgia four-star cornerback Jalyn Crawford this weekend, while Florida four-star cornerback target Cai Bates will make an official visit to Baton Rouge next weekend.
Other cornerbacks are also still in play, and LSU is set to host Texas five-star cornerback Kobe Black for an official visit in September.
With only one high school signee returning at cornerback from the 2022 roster in Laterrance Welch, and only one true cornerback signed in the 2023 class in Nevada’s Jeremiah Hughes, the Tigers have had to go transfer-heavy at cornerback the past two offseasons.
Now, it’s clear the LSU staff is looking to stack up on high school cornerbacks as they look to build a more steady foundation in the room for the future.
