BREAKING: LSU lands Houston transfer AJ Haulcy

LSU Football has won another Transfer Portal battle, this time reeling in a commitment from Houston transfer safety AJ Haulcy.
LSU went head-to-head with Miami for the highest-ranked prospect remaining in the spring transfer portal and came out on top. After a trip to Miami earlier last week, Haulcy arrived in Baton Rouge for his visit to LSU on Sunday afternoon.
Then, on Sunday night, the Houston defensive back didn’t wait any longer to reveal his college transfer choice.
The Lone Star State native will transfer to LSU, joining the Tigers for summer workouts as the newest – and perhaps final – addition to the 2024 roster.
The Big 12 First-Team All-Conference selection finished the 2024 season with 74 tackles. His five interceptions ranked first in the Big 12, and his 13 passes defended were second in the league.

With 703 defensive snaps played this past season, Haulcy is widely viewed as one of the most experienced and proven players to hit the portal this spring.
“I just feel like it’s God’s plan,” Haulcy said ahead of his public reveal to play for the LSU. “So, wherever God tells me to go, that’s where I’m going.”
Haulcy is LSU’s 17th addition from the NCAA’s Transfer Portal this offseason.
The Tigers had arguably college football’s best portal haul in December, and LSU used the spring portal window to add players at two positions of need in defensive tackle and safety. In addition to Halcy, LSU landed South Florida defensive lineman Bernard Gooden, who was ranked as one of the top defensive tackles in the portal this spring. The Tigers’ class has been heralded by multiple outlets, and comes to Baton Rouge to pair with a strong returning core of Garrett Nussmeier, Harold Perkins, Whit Weeks, Aaron Anderson, and others.
