LSU has landed its 13th player to the 2025-26 roster, but he’s not from the transfer portal. Ron Zipper is a 22-year old professional player from Israel who is coming to LSU next season, sources tell Bengal Tiger On3.

Zipper is a 6-foot-4 guard who has played four years of professional basketball and the past three seasons has been in the top league in Israel. This season was his most impactful, playing on Hapoel Be’er Sheva full time. He played in 24 of the teams 26 games and finishing third on the team in minutes played and ending the year averaging 11.1 points on 42 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from 3-point range on 4.3 attempts per game.

Over the last two years of professional ball, he’s 58-of-148 (39.2%) from 3-point range. He’s another high-level scorer who has the physical maturity LSU needs next season as it rounds out its roster. Zipper also averaged 1.4 steals showing the activity on the defensive end. It’s a massive get for the Tigers as they get a bonafide shooter to pair with an already talented roster and point guard in DJ Thomas.

He’s also played a plenty of international basketball, representing Israel in 2023 on its U20 team alongside Michigan star and likely NBA first-round pick Danny Wolf. Zipper was the third leading scorer on the team in the seven games, posting 11.9 points on 43.3 percent from the field with a team-high 2.3 steals. His Israel team advanced to the Finals of the tournament before losing to France.

It is expected that Zipper has four years of eligibility, after having to serve in the Israeli military. BYU was interested in Zipper last year per reports, but now LSU gets him signed to join the Tigers’ roster.

The addition of Zipper rounds out LSU’s roster for the 2025-26 season, giving them a full compliment of experienced guards and ample talent across the board. At guard, Zipper joins DJ Thomas, Max Mackinnon, Rashad King, PJ Carter and a pair of freshmen in Jalen Reece and Mazi Mosley. It’s a group with ample experience and shooting to pair with a formidable frontcourt next season.

Matt McMahon and his staff went into this offseason knowing there was pressure to get to the NCAA Tournament next year and it appears they have the roster and depth to do so. We’ll have a full roster breakdown on the site over the weekend, so stay tuned to the Bengal Tiger On3.
