BREAKING: LSU lands Kentucky transfer WR Barion Brown
The LSU football staff has landed a commitment from one of the best wide receivers in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Kentucky transfer Barion Brown, a former On3 Freshman All-American, will transfer from Kentucky to LSU. Brown is set to join the team this offseason ahead of the 2025 season.
Brown, one of the top receivers who has entered the transfer portal this month, had 122 career receptions for 1,528 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 37 games played at Kentucky.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound junior was a Preseason First Team All-America selection entering 2024, but a struggling passing game resulted in a career-low 29 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns. No matter, Brown had schools from coast-to-coast interested in his commitment, and the Tigers beat out the likes of Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida State and more.
LSU loses three of the team’s top four receivers in Kyren Lacy (out of eligibility) and CJ Daniels (Transfer Portal), plus tight end Mason Taylor (NFL Draft). The Tigers also saw backup receiver Shelton Sampson announce his decision to enter the transfer portal.

Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas are returning receivers who played big roles in 2024, Kyle Parker is also set to return to field from injury, and the same goes for Chris Hilton, who has yet to announce his decision to remain with the Tigers, enter the NFL Draft or, perhaps, enter the portal.
No matter, with the loss of three of the top four pass-catchers from this past season, LSU head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers are targeting multiple wide receivers in the portal, and now Brown – one of the best available SEC transfers – is on board for the 2025 season in Baton Rouge.
