LSU has landed another commitment from a Top 10 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, this time reeling in Mississippi 4-star JaReylan McCoy.

McCoy, a 6-foot-6.5, 245-pound edge rusher from Tupelo High (Miss.) committed to the Tigers live on ESPN at the Under Armour All-America Game.

After trimming down a double-digit offer list to the trio of LSU, Southern Cal and Tennessee, McCoy said it became clear the coaching staff in Baton Rouge was the winning factor for the Tigers to land his commitment.

“The coaches, they treat the guys like a family,” McCoy told The Bengal Tiger staff. “The fans are big supporters.”

McCoy has the best relationship with LSU defensive ends coach Kevin Peoples, who helped spearhead the Top 100 prospect’s recruitment after being hired in January. The 4-star defensive end said Peoples is an approachable coach overall, especially when it comes to breaking down film and helping McCoy improve his game.

“He played a big part of it,” McCoy said of his decision to commit to LSU. “He just gets you fired up, and gets you ready for the next level.”

McCoy was in Baton Rouge for LSU’s 42-13 loss to Alabama on Nov. 9. While the game wasn’t what he had expected, McCoy still left LSU appreciating the atmosphere Tiger Stadium brought, telling The Bengal Tiger staff that the environment around the football program and fans that support the team are second to none.

“I love (the fans)” McCoy said. “I wish I could shake all their hands.”

McCoy is commitment No. 6 for LSU’s 2026 recruiting class, and he joins 4-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson and 4-star star safety Aiden Hall as LSU’s commits on defense. The New Orleans natives are both ranked as Top 5 prospects at their respective positions, while McCoy is ranked by On3 as the No. 8 defensive line prospect and No. 88 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
