BREAKING: Oklahoma TE transfer Bauer Sharp signs with LSU
LSU has landed one of the top tight ends available in the NCAA Transfer Portal in Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp.
Sharp has signed financial aid agreements papers with the Tigers, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
It is the first of what is expected to likely be double-digit transfer additions for LSU this offseason, and Sharp is one of what is expected to be a haul that includes multiple transfer tight ends.
Sharp led Oklahoma in receptions and receiving yards this past season, finishing with 42 receptions for 324 yards and two touchdowns. It was his first season with the Sooners after transferring in from Southeastern Louisiana University.
He caught 11 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown during his first season playing tight end for the Lions and added 10 carries for 83 yards. He was even more productive in 2023, catching 29 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns.
Expect LSU to land more Transfer Portal players from the SEC
Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown and Florida cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson are both circled as LSU leans, and On3 RPM picks went in from myself and On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos for the Tigers to reel in both transfers.
Both Brown and Jackson made visits to LSU this week, and both would be viewed as transfers likely to compete for starting jobs next fall.
Brown had 122 career receptions for 1,528 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his 37 career games at Kentucky and was a Preseason First Team All-America selection entering the 2024 season.

Jackson, who originally signed with LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond during his time on staff at Florida, started multiple games for the Gators before running into an injury that sidelined him and ultimately led to the decision to take a redshirt in Year 2 before transferring. Jackson was ranked by On3 as the No. 3 cornerback prospect in the 2023 class.
Nussmeier’s return should yield more portal results
With LSU starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier set to return for the 2025 season, expect the decision to impact the program’s transfer portal push on offense. With Bauer now signed, LSU’s pursuit of other transfer portal tight ends and wide receivers like Barion Brown and more comes with the reality that next year’s starting quarterback is in place.
Nussmeier has played in 30 career games for the Tigers across four seasons already in Baton Rouge.
“I feel like my time at LSU is not over. I’m officially announcing I’m returning for my final year of eligibility. And I’m fully committed to bringing this university a championship. My teammates, coaches and the fans will get the absolute best out of me every single day until we complete that goal. Go Tigers,” Nussmeier said in a video.
Nussmeier got his first chance to be the full-time starter for LSU in 2024 and showed flashes of immense arm talent. He finished the 12-game regular season with 3739 passing yards on 63.7% completions and 26 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. He also rushed for a trio of touchdowns.
