BREAKING: Top 100 recruit CJ Jackson commits to LSU
The LSU football staff has landed another commitment for the 2024 class, this time reeling in Peach State star and On3 Top 100 recruit CJ Jackson.
Jackson backed off his commitment to Georgia Tech a week ago, then quickly set up a visit to Baton Rouge.
After taking in a weekend on LSU’s campus, and the 48-18 win over Auburn in Tiger Stadium, Jackson shut down his recruitment for good.
Now, he’s firm on his decision to play for LSU.
LSU lands an On3 Top 10 EDGE rusher
Jackson, who is ranked by On3 as the No. 7 EDGE rusher prospect and No. 64 overall recruit in the 2024 class, had already made multiple visits to LSU this offseason, including an official visit in June.
Following a night in Death Valley, Jackson let the LSU staff know he was a Tiger.
“The visit was great. They showed a lot of love, a lot of hospitality. It kind of felt like a home away from home, if you get what I’m saying,” Jackson told On3. “They got a nice little culture over there. It feels like Atlanta when I’m down there.
“They got their own little culture, own little vibe. It’s different in some ways, but when you peel back to the basis of it, it’s like Atlanta and that stuck out to me. We ate good. It’s Louisiana. I love it.”
The Tigers stayed consistent, win out on Jackson
Defensive coordinator Matt House and defensive assistant John Jancek both played a role in recruiting Jackson to Baton Rouge, as did off-field personnel staffers like Bobby Barham, whom Jackson said he’s grown close to throughout his recruitment.

Mizzou coach sounded off
“I love coach Jancek, cool dude. We vibed the whole trip. Coach House, my DC, student of the game,” he said. “He really knows his stuff. With me being such a big student of the game, we kind of clicked well because I’m like a sponge. All I want to do is learn about the game, learn about things that can make me better. He gave me the whole rundown.
“Our relationship has grown tremendously. We talk all the time. He came to the school a couple times to see me, just showing interest and that he wants me. We talked a lot of football while I was there. Showed me film, moves, things like that. Had a whole defensive playbook that I’m going to use for the season. It’s cool the love you get down there. You can see why they made a big turnaround and are building something special. I’d kind of like to be a part of that.”
Jackson also said his meetings with head coach Brian Kelly came with a clear message on his future in Baton Rouge.
“Meeting with coach Kelly was cool,” he said. “It was cool building that relationship. When I went the first time, he was like, we want you here, we need you here. We’re short on Jacks and I could be a game-changer right away as an early enrollee to compete for a spot.”
Jackson is LSU’s 25th commitment for the 2024 class, which remains ranked inside the Top 10 nationally on the On3 Industry Rankings. Stay tuned for more on this breaking news.
