LSU head coach Brian Kelly and associate head coach Frank Wilson visited four-star LSU running back commit Kaleb Jackson. The Baton Rouge (La.) Liberty Magnet product is set to sign with the Tigers during the early signing period.

Jackson’s been a longtime pledge to LSU after committing to play for Wilson. LSU also has fellow Louisiana native and four-star running back Trey Holly on board.

“Since I committed it’s been great,” Jackson told On3 in September. “The fans, the coaching staff, the players … all the players are in a group chat. We come together, text, chat, laugh and it’s great talking to fellow commits. I stay in Baton Rouge, so fans see me time to time and say, ‘That’s Kaleb!’ It’s great talking to the coaches almost every day, telling me to shake back and good luck in my games, and it’s good for them to be talking to me and good to have them in my back corner.”

“I can be relaxed with them because they’re gonna be my coaches in the future,” he continued. “When I got hurt they were supportive, told me they were sorry for my injury and that the shake back was gonna be great, also not to push too hard and be the great player that you are.”

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Kaleb Jackson ranks as the No. 201 overall prospect, No. 12 running back in the nation and No. 12 prospect in Louisiana.

Kaleb Jackson scouting report

“Explosive outside and one-cut runner who rips off long runs with regularity. Has a prototypical running back frame with a muscular build at around 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. A strong track athlete who regularly runs sub 11.0 seconds in the 100 meters. That long speed shows up on the field in spades.

“Has excellent play speed and burst. Explodes past the line of scrimmage and regularly pulls away from defenders at the second level. At his best when he can use his speed to get to the edge or make one cut and get north-south. Though he does not play top competition, registers as one of the more productive and efficient runners in the 2023 cycle.

“Rushed for 2,034 yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging 14.7 yards per attempt as a junior. Also a good receiver out of the backfield with 4 receiving touchdowns in 2021. More of a straight-line runner. Has some hip stiffness and lacks fluidity with his lateral agility.”
