Brian Kelly goes in-home with 4-star DB Javien Toviano
LSU head coach Brian Kelly is logging the miles this week during the contact period. 2023 Arlington (Tex.) Martin defensive back Javien Toviano hosted Kelly and cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples on Wednesday, Toviano tweeted out.
LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for the four-star prospect out of the Lone Star State. He’s visited numerous times this fall, the latest being for LSU’s win over Alabama.
“I absolutely love LSU,” Toviano said. “The vibe that I got when I visited there, the coaches and the relationships that I’ve made so far makes me feel great about the university. I know that my opportunities there are endless there.
“To be able to come in and have an instant impact on the program, to hoist a national championship for the first time in four years as well as being a long list of highly respected guys that played the position and to have success at it would be honorable. It’s a place I can very well see myself at!”
Javien Toviano ranks as the No. 55 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 6 safety and the No. 9 player in the state of Texas.

Javien Toviano is one of the top uncommitted prospects
Toviano brings a high football IQ to the position. With his college ready physique and cover skills, he could factor in early, if things click.
“His strengths, he’s a very intelligent, heady player with good instincts,” On3 director of scouting Charles Power said. “I think he projects best at safety. Maybe relative to some of these other safety prospects, playing only corner in high school. Some of these other safeties have really shown more from an athleticism and playmaking standpoint than Toviano to this point. He’s very polished in coverage.
“I think as a safety, what he brings to the tables is just smarts and coverage polish. We got to see that in-person a couple times in the offseason.”
