LSU and the Top 25: The latest AP, Coaches Polls revealed
LSU’s lopsided loss Saturday to Alabama tumbled the Tigers out of the top 20 in both the AP and Coaches polls Sunday for the first time this season.
The Tigers fell seven spots to No. 21 in the AP and eight spots to No. 22 in the Coaches.
LSU is the highest-ranked three-loss team in both polls as Brian Kelly and company prepare for their final road trip of this regular season at Florida (4-5) next weekend.
The Tigers’ three remaining opponents are all unranked this week following losses: the Gators’ to Texas (8-1), Vanderbilt (6-4) to South Carolina (6-3) and Oklahoma (5-5) to Missouri (7-2).
Alabama (7-2) moved up two spots to No. 9 in both polls.
Indiana (10-0) moved up three spots in the AP to No. 5 and four spots in the Coaches to 6, as the biggest jump near the top of the rankings.
Georgia (7-2) and Miami (9-1) — No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, on both lists last week — were among the other notable drops following their upset losses Saturday at Ole Miss (8-2) and Georgia Tech (8-4).
The Bulldogs fell to No. 10 in the Coaches and No. 11 in the AP, while the Hurricanes slid to No. 12 in both.
