The LSU Baseball team is one win away from taking down the Florida Gators and capturing the 2023 College World Series crown.

The Tigers followed the instant classic on Saturday night in Omaha with a rough showing on Sunday in a 24-4 loss. The Gators evened the series after LSU took Game 1 in extra innings.

Monday’s winner-take-all Game 3 begins at 6 p.m. CT in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will be televised on ESPN and broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network. The radio pregame show begins at 5:30 p.m. and the broadcast will be streamed live at www.LSUsports.net/live.

In LSU’s search for a seventh National Championship, the Tigers start Thatcher Hurd against Jac Caglianone, who will toe the rubber for the Gators, who are looking for the program’s second National Championship. It will be the second start for Caglianone in Omaha. He threw 4.1 innings, striking out for and allowed one run in a win over TCU that sent the Gators to the College World Series final.

LSU has to have a short memory from Sunday’s result.

“It was a tough one, obviously,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “Really good job by Florida swinging the bat. You have to credit them. It was just an onslaught of good at-bats and barrels. And they’re a great team, and they played great today.

“Look at the two teams that are playing. These are the two best teams in college baseball. Would I have liked today to have been different? Yeah. I think we were prepared to play at the beginning of the game. And then we asked Nate to get out there and give us everything he could. I’m really excited about tomorrow night. And I know our players are too.”
