Dashawn McBryde puts together solid testing numbers
LSU safety commitment Da’Shawn McBryde with some solid testing numbers from The Opening’s weekend competition in Oxford (Miss.).
While LSU quarterback commitment Colin Hurley took home an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals following a strong showing on Sunday, McBryde left the camp with another round of impressive testing numbers.
McBryde is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as a four-star, a Top 200 prospect nationally, a Top 20 safety prospect in the 2024 class and a Top 5 recruit in Louisiana. He committed to LSU on April 22.
Testing numbers are impressive for LSU commitment
McBryde checked into Sunday’s first-ever “ALL 22” event powered by the Elite 11 Regional and The Opening, and he walked away as a top performer
At 6-foot-3, 194 pounds, McBryde recorded a 4.53 second 40-yard dash, a 36″ vertical jump and a 4.25 second shuttle. He finished with a 109.68 rating, which was among the best from the event.
McBryde has been a regular for Denham Springs in track-and-field competition this offseason.
Some notable times include a 7.18 60-meter dash (indoor), an 11.09 100-meter dash (outdoor), a long jump of 23′ 2″ (outdoor), and a triple jump of 41′ 11″ (outdoor).
McBryde also competed in a handful of relays, including the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and SMR 800-meters.

The Denham Springs (La.) defensive back and LSU commitment is a Top 200 overall prospect, currently sitting at No. 193 overall in the On300 rankings.
Following a huge junior season, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power liked what he saw once McBryde put down some verified track times and measurements.

“A big part of Dashawn McBryde’s rise was us getting confirmed measurables and seeing the kind of numbers he’s putting up in his track season,” Power said. “He is close to 6-3, 200 pounds, has plus length at the position with 33-inch arms. Just a big framed safety, which makes him one of the bigger safeties in this cycle that we’ve evaluated. Room to continue adding mass. We see what he’s doing on the track. He’s running a sub-11 100 meters with a 40+ foot triple jump.”
The Denham Springs safety is coming off a big junior season with 46 tackles, four tackles for loss, nine interceptions, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and two touchdowns on defense.
McBryde’s nine interceptions is the most in a single season in Denham Springs program history.
Couple his production with his upside, and the Tigers landed a versatile piece that is just beginning to show what he can be at the next level.
“I think there’s considerable physical upside with Dashawn McBryde,” Power said. “Going back and watching his film, we felt good about where he stacked up in the safety group with that added context, verified measurements, which are outstanding. His good track marks midway through the track season. I think of the group, McBryde has the most physical upside and he’s a guy who I think his best football is ahead of him. He’s really scratching the surface of what he could be.
“A lot of physical potential, which is a lot of what this update was about was getting verified data points, whether height, weight, arm length, hand size and athletic markers with track and camp data.”
