BREAKING: 4-star OL DJ Chester commits to LSU
2023 Eagle’s Landing Christian (Ga.) offensive lineman DJ Chester committed to LSU on Thursday. The Tigers beat out Auburn, Florida State, FAMU, Michigan and Ole Miss for the four-star prospect.
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Chester ranks as the No. 145 overall prospect and No. 11 interior offensive lineman in the nation.
Offensive line coach Brad Davis was out at his game on Friday. Head coach Brian Kelly also impressed the 6-4, 315-pounder.
“They’re my guys. They’re really good people. I talk to JR, talk to BK a lot and I talk to coach Davis. Coach Davis is a really good dude. He knows what he’s talking about. He watches my film and he tells me where I need to get better each and every week,” DJ Chester told On3. “Everybody thinks BK is a bad coach. He is not a bad coach. He is a great coach. Everybody doesn’t know BK. They gotta open up BK. He’s a very goofy guy. All that chill image that you’ll be seeing on the sidelines, that’s him, but sometimes he’s a very goofy guy. He likes to laugh a lot.”
DJ Chester solidifies LSU’s impressive OL haul
LSU’s 2023 recruiting class features an already impressive bunch. Five-star offensive tackle Zalance Heard, four-star offensive tackle Tyree Adams and three-star offensive lineman Paul Mubenga already pledged to play for Davis.

Chester, who will visit LSU again for the Alabama game on Saturday, is a part of a recruiting class that ranks inside the Top 5 nationally for On3.
LSU’s getting a leader and a prospect who can play multiple positions. The Tigers have recruited him for an interior spot along the offensive line.
“The strengths of my game, I want to be the best leader I can on the field and off the field,” DJ Chester said. “Show my guys the example. When we were losing real bad last game, I tried to pick them up. I said, ‘Hey, let’s just go have fun, game’s not over, let’s go finish the game because you never know when your last snap is.’”
