Elite safety Joenel Aguero to return to LSU for yet another visit
2023 Danvers (Mass.) St. John’s Prep safety Joenel Aguero is one of the best prospects in America and LSU is set to host him this weekend as he makes the trek down for Battle 7-on-7 in New Orleans. LSU hosted Aguero last weekend for a multi-day unofficial visit.
Ohio State, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida were included in his Top 7 schools, which he dropped just before his visit to LSU.
“Me and Brian Kelly are really close to each other and he went to the high school that I’m going to now,” Aguero told On3 as to why the Tigers made the cut. “He’s been recruiting me hard.”
Head coach Brian Kelly has a unique bond with Joenel Aguero, having attended St. John’s Prep himself.
“Especially Brian Kelly is there now, we have a close relationship now. We’ve always had that,” Aguero explained. “He also went to my high school I go to right now. He’s wanting to recruit guys from this high school and is one of the first guys who recruited me. We’re definitely close and I feel like our relationship is really good.”

Joenel Aguero eyeing summer commitment
Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and Florida are all also hosting him for unofficial visits in March. He plans to drop his Top 5 schools before summer then take official visits before making a decision this summer as of now.
“Development, mostly,” Joenel Ageuro said of what he’s looking for in a program. “Coach that’s going to develop me for the next level and make me the greatest I can be and help me understand the game better.”
Aguero is the No. 34 prospect in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s the No. 3 safety nationally and No. 1 prospect in Massachusetts. Georgia is the heavy On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favorite.
