The latest On300 rankings update was revealed on Monday for the 2024 recruiting class and LSU saw some commits and recruits shift around. Where’d the future Tigers and potential Tigers land? We break down some of the notable movements below.

2024 LSU commits

LSU’s highest-ranked commit, according to On3, is Pearland (Tex.) Shadow Creek safety Maurice Williams II. Williams moved up from No. 155 overall to No. 125 nationally as he leads one of the state’s top programs. He was already a Top 10 safety, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Loganville (Ga.) Grayson wide receiver Joseph Stone, one of two commits in 2024 from Grayson, is now inside the Top 200. He makes the move from No. 200 to No. 185 after the start to his junior season. Stone also went from a 90 to a 91 rating, according to On3.

Grayson defensive back Zion Ferguson dropped from No. 174 to No. 293 in the country. On3 noted that Ferguson is a prospect who needs to show where he’s at from a verified athleticism perspective after he committed in September. He’s a battle-tested prospect on a terrific Grayson team and will need to add strength as he grows older.

Chillicothe (Ohio) tight end Tayvion Galloway dropped out of the On300 from No. 160 overall. On3 evaluated the 6-3, 225-pound prospect both in camp and as a junior, who plays both ways for his team. Galloway’s size wasn’t what he was listed at originally and his verified athleticism doesn’t back up his lofty ranking from earlier in the cycle. That said, he’s been productive and is still a quality addition for Mike Denbrock’s tight end room.

LSU’s lone in-state commit, Jonesboro-Hodge linebacker Xavier Atkins, remained a strong three-star for On3. He’s got an 88 rating and as we gather more information on him, could move up with that data. He plays on defense, offense and special teams for his team.

Notable in-state targets

The highest-ranked in-state prospect is now Marrero (La.) John Ehret cornerback Wardell Mack, who moved up from No. 96 overall to No. 79 overall in the country. Mack, a 6-1, 170-pound prospect, has tripped to Michigan State, Alabama, LSU and others this fall. The Tigers lead the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for him. On3 is the highest on Mack, according to the On3 Industry Comparison.

Another defensive back, Lafayette Christian Academy athlete Ju’Juan Johnson is the state’s No. 2 prospect behind Mack. Johnson makes his On300 debut while quarterbacking for LCA, but this summer, he exploded on the camp circuit. LSU was one of the many to offer him, targeting him as a nickel corner. The Tigers lead the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for the No. 117 overall prospect in the country.

Many (La.) linebacker Tylen Singleton fell from No. 51 overall to No. 162 overall in the country. Before the ranking update, Singleton was the state’s top-ranked prospect, according to the On3 Consensus. LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for him as well.

Jackson (La.) East Feliciana tight end Trey’Dez Green took a tumble down from his top spot in-state for On3, falling from No. 13 overall to No. 180 overall. Green is a top target for LSU, but the big athlete hasn’t been as explosive as you’d like to see from a five-star type of prospect. He’s still a high-recruited, two-sport athlete, but for his position, he might struggle to be a game-changer at the next level.

Finally, a trio of prospects who fell out of the On300 were New Iberia (La.) Westgate defensive lineman De’Myrion Johnson, Destrehan (La.) EDGE Kolaj Cobbins and New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine athlete Bobby Kennedy.

Notable out-of-state targets

Auburn leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Mobile Christian (Ala.) defender Sterling Dixon, who made a huge move up into the Top 100. He went from No. 246 overall to No. 62 overall and was moved from EDGE to linebacker. LSU is battling Auburn and Alabama for the 6-3, 210-pounder. On3 is now by far the highest on him and LSU picked up the most recent On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick ahead of his Dec. 1 commitment date.

Two of LSU’s recent visitors, five-star cornerbacks Desmond Ricks and Ellis Robinson IV remain inside the Top 10. The IMG Academy teammates visited Baton Rouge earlier this fall and were in Gainesville seeing LSU beat the Gators this past weekend. Ricks was the No. 2 overall prospect in the country and remained there while Robinson is the newest five-star for On3 and moved up from No. 6 overall to No. 3 overall.

A pair of quarterback targets, DJ Lagway out of Willis (Tex.) and Julian Sayin out of Carlsbad (Calif.), remained two of the nation’s highest-ranked prospects. Lagway moved up from No. 16 overall to No. 8 overall while Sayin stayed locked in as the No. 47 overall prospect. LSU trails Georgia on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Sayin, who visits Alabama this weekend. The Bulldogs won’t be in the running for Sayin anymore though as they just took a commitment from Ryan Puglisi.

Duncanville (Tex.) EDGE Colin Simmons moved up from No. 38 to No. 11 overall, putting him squarely in five-star range. Waco (Tex.) Connally defensive back Kobe Black moved up from No. 28 to No. 16. Lake Belton (Tex.) wideout Micah Hudson dropped two spots to No. 11 overall. The top-ranked prospect in Mississippi is Lake Cormorant defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin, a huge LSU target, who moved up nine spots to No. 52 overall. Allen (Tex.) EDGE Zina Umeozulu moved up six spots to No. 91 overall. Recent LSU offer Ethan Calloway, an offensive tackle out of North Carolina, made his On300 debut to No. 127 overall.

In Arkansas, four-star EDGE Charleston Collins moved up from No. 235 to No. 133 overall. Another DMV target for LSU, defensive lineman Ernest Willor moved from EDGE to defensive line. That helped him move up almost 100 spots from No. 270 to No. 174 overall. Duncanville (Tex.) safety Ka’Davion Dotson slid up from No. 216 overall to No. 198 overall. LSU is getting a lot of buzz on Peach State defensive back Jalyn Crawford, who moved up 67 spots to No. 200 overall. Aledo (Tex.) linebacker Davhon Keys slid up 15 spots to No. 237 overall. Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day wide receiver Bredell Richardson, who visited LSU this fall, dropped back from No. 142 to No. 264 overall. Grayson offensive lineman Waltclaire Flynn Jr. and Virginia two-way lineman Cam’Ron Warren dropped out of the On300.
