With a strong crowd expected after the Gamecocks got that win over Kentucky, LSU head coach Brian Kelly knows his Tigers have experience in this environment, but will need to be ready for Saturday.

“I just think you know there’s a lot of guys that have played on the road understand what it takes to win on the road whether it was Mississippi State last year, Missouri at homecoming,” Kelly said this week. “There’s a lot of guys that have played in that atmosphere. It just requires a focus, it requires an understanding that you’re in it every single play, an incredible sense of urgency. I’m certain that they’re aware of what is going to be necessary for them to be successful.

“I’m not dealing with a group of guys that will be surprised by what GameDay and South Carolina and all that will be a about and we’ll prepare for it with crowd noise and things of that nature this week to get them ready. But it’ll take a great effort, a team that’s locked in and playing their best when their best is needed good.”

Saturday’s matchup between the 16th-ranked Tigers and Gamecocks will be only the 10th between the teams as conference foes and just the eighth in Columbia. LSU enters the game with a 19-2-1 mark against South Carolina in a series that dates back to 1930.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has some buzz around him after the big win in Lexington. LSU’s defense is looking to knock him off his game.

“They’ve got some good players. They’ve got big d linemen, they have Harold Perkins,” he said this week. “The DBs, they’re feisty, they’re all feisty. They play hard, they play fast, man coverage, just things like that. We’re just going to attack what we can, take our chances and execute.

“Like I said, we’ve just got to stay consistent. We’ve got to play our techniques, have good technique, stick to our coaching and stuff like that so we don’t get in those situations.”

ESPN’s College GameDay will be on hand in Columbia for the eighth time and for the first time since 2014. The Gamecocks are 3-4 when the traveling show is in town.
