"It's the real WRU" 2026 WR Somourian Wingo raves about LSU
On Dec. 23, Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo announced his Top 10 schools, a list of several of the top teams in the country — including LSU. Cortez Hankton and the Tigers are a legitimate contender early on for the receiver from St. Augustine, Florida.
Wingo is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver from St. Augustine High School, and is ranked as the No. 34 recruit in Florida, according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
What sticks out to Wingo most about LSU is the development of its receivers. He talks with Cortez Hankton often about his approach toward his receivers, and it falls in line with what he’s looking for in a college program.
“He’s a good guy; good, chill, laidback, and obviously a great coach,” Wingo said. “Every year [receivers] get sent to the league from there. [It’s the] real WRU.”
Wingo also talks with offensive coordinator Joe Sloan often about the offense as a whole, and Sloan has also played a big role in impressing Wingo. The two have had a relationship since LSU offered Wingo, as Sloan was the coach to give him the offer.

“He’s my guy, too,” Wingo said. “[He] showed so much love when I visited.”
All the schools in Wingo’s Top 10 seem to be comparable to one another in this early stage of the cycle, but Wingo says the possibility of a spring visit to LSU is certainly there.
Florida, Miami, UCF, USF, Louisville, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri and Kansas also made the cut for Wingo’s Top 10.
Wingo visited LSU for the Tigers’ matchup with Alabama, where the Crimson Tide came away with a 42-13 win. While the game wasn’t what Wingo had envisioned, it was still a good experience for him to be around the coaches, players, and be on campus.
“It was a great experience. Obviously we didn’t come out on top, but it was still a great experience,” Wingo said. “Got to meet all the coaches, hang out with different recruits, see what it’s like. It was amazing.”
