BREAKING: Jaelyn Davis-Robinson commits to LSU on National Signing Day
2022 Waxahachie (Tex.) defensive back Jaelyn Davis-Robinson announced he’s committed to LSU on National Signing Day. The Tigers land a speedy 5-11, 180-pound defensive back over the likes of Boston College, Oregon and Wyoming on Wednesday.
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Davis-Robinson is the No. 50 cornerback in the nation and No. 82 prospect in Texas. According to On3, he’s ranked higher, coming in as the No. 41 cornerback in America and No. 63 prospect in Texas.
Boston College, Wyoming, UNLV and Oregon also hosted him for official visits, including the Ducks this month, who were seen as the leader heading into LSU’s visit.
His impressive track times and inexperience on the defensive side of the ball might mean the Tigers found a sleeper out of Texas.
“The first thing that immediately jumps out with Jaelyn Davis-Robinson is the speed,” On3 director of scouting Charles Power said. “He consistently ran in the 10.8 range or lower in the 100 meters as a junior. You see that speed show up on the field with his ability to stay in phase on downfield routes. Davis-Robinson has the versatility to line up at multiple spots in the secondary, whether it’s at nickel, outside corner or safety.”
LSU set to add to impressive recruiting haul?
LSU is also in contention for some of the nation’s best prospects. All of them are set to announce on National Signing Day as well.
